The name magoi was used by Matthew (2:1-12) to indicate “sages” who came to adore Christ. While they are declared to come from “the East,” their homeland was most likely the land beyond the Jordan River and east of the Dead Sea. The gifts they brought to the newborn Christ were products of their native land and were such as would be presented to a king. Although their names are not known, medieval legend calls them Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar.

PASTORAL HOME VISITS

In Poland it is customary in the New Year for the pastor to visit the family homes of parishioners and bless the home. If you would like Fr. Peter to visit, please contact him to arrange a day and time.

THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD

The Second Vatican Council said Christ came to reveal humanity to itself. In his baptism, Christ reveals his purpose for us: that in a world marked by sin and death, we experience salvation through our baptismal incorporation into the family of God.
